Are you getting the 1.6 engine alone or the whole vehicle as a donor?
You will want the turbo version if you can or at least put a turbo on your 1.6 block later if you don't have one. It makes a difference in the sidekick since its about 500lbs heavier than a Samurai.
You will want to get:
1) an angled oil filter housing from a Fox or Quantum car so you don't have to do a remote oil filter set-up if you don't want to;
2) fuel filter housing for the fuel water separator;
3) Glow plug relay and harness;
4) VW fan thermo switch (early rabbit 2 prong) for electric fans;
5) Cold start cable for the injection pump;
6) Adapter kit: plate, flywheel, engine mounts;
7) Save your stock sidekick/tracker temp sensor(for gauge) and oil pressure sending unit;
8) Don't cut up your stock sidekick/tracker engine bay wiring harness until you have your diesel running in the car. That way you will have all the wiring you need (alternator, temp sensor, battery, etc...)before you cut it out for a clean looking install;
9) Acme Oil Pan if you remain stock and don't use the Calmini 3/3 lift;
Options:
1) oil cooler to help keep it cool. RX7 one works perfect in a sidekick/tracker;
2) aftermarket gauges to watch your engine;
3) signal converter box so you can use your tachometer;
4) Intercooler: a Saab or Ford Probe works good;
