The Ford Currier build!
 

I got into a conversation with gunman41mag and somehow the Ford Courier cam out. So were going to talk bench building!

I have seen these trucks with ford 302 wedged in them, but a 7.3L? We would have to rebuild the front end to handle the weight, transmission, and reared. this can be done any one else have any ideas?
I don't know what transmission we should use but we can find an early 80's one ton toyota pickup for the frame, all we have to do is shorten the frame. gunman you want this to be all wheel drive?
the truck has got to be what seven foot long by 5 foot wide? 2100lbs?

Jesus why not just stick a 7.3 in a pinto.....
or hell, just put a 7.3 on a go kart :td:

First I'm not Jesus? Unless you'r praying to him that it might get done. If you do that, I can guarantee it will be done! We could do a pinto to, can you provide some specs? The mustang II might be a better candidate. but we have yet to get started on the courier. Notice I spelled it wrong on the title!

theres a guy over on oilburners that wants so bad to put a IDI into a fox body mustang.

I agree we might have to go with a custom tube frame! You know what lets do the custom tube frame, and keep the cab stock, and used the front end as a shell. Weld it all up and turn it into a flip nose. that way we can get to the PowerPlant. We might have to put the cooling system in the bed? either that bring the power-plant into the fire wall and angle the cooling system?

It mite be easier to put the 7.3 in the bed, the rear tires will have plenty of traction then:tu:

we could use a strange system like Wide Open Performance? then we would have to turn it into... Naw lets custom tonu it!

why not just put a cummins kta650 in a geo metro. and put a western sadle on the valve cover for a seat!

Whats our cost so far? I'm thinking $300 for the truck, $400 or more for materials, $700 or more for the power-plant and ECM. Wiring? get that from the doner truck $0

puttin in a 7.3 is playin it safe :tu: if he puts in a cummins the torque is equal to that of the earth quake in japan. the rear axle would end up on top of the truck... somethings a ford just wasn't meant for :td:

haha if a ford wasnt meant for it then a dodge is a church mouse.

Which is why on the 650 and 750 the ps 7.3 and 6.0 wasn't an option but the good ol 5.9 was... :D

You know if I wanted to throw caution to the wind. I could put 6.0l PowerStroke into a Dodge Challenger? In a way, it would be in essence the same as putting the new 6.7l Cummins into a Riding lawn mower! :tttt: They will both tear them selves apart trying to go!:yeah:

easy peasy, not my fault cummins was born with 3 nuts.........ford/international...well, they have 2 nuts from birth but one got stuck up inside

If thats the case The cummins was born in a bastardized pic-up!:tttt: and now it no-longer has the Dodge name. It is now called the Ram! If you think about it, the Dodge was born from Ford, the brothers had their start from the executive side. Since then, they were picked up by chrysler, and have been carried over as a step child! Now their truck division is open to be sold off at a moments notice! :w2:

Now back to the build! Gunman whats next? Anyone have a drawing for this little demon? I was thinking a roots blower to the Intake and a huge turbo to take up the slack after the blower did its job?

They dropped the dodge for marketing reasons. That way it can be sold at any dealership dodge, jeep, chrysler without the dealer having to buy into the dodge market share. Smart

What kind of tranny are you gonna put in it? 6, 8, 10, 12, 13, 18 speed? are you gonna have a 2 speed rear end?

If we are going to race. Heck yeah! If we are going to pull? A three speed would be good? Nothing fancy.

How about a 2 speed Powerglide, they are darn near bulletproof. I didn't break mine when I had it. Neither did my brother, when he started driving.
