Others have done this. Do a Google search. There is a few on other forums. Not to be a dick or anything but German engineering is way better than the Asian engineering. Asian especially Toyotas rust on the new car lot. I personally would find at least something American to put this fine powerplant in. Not trying to bust your ***** but I've seen way to many Toyotas go to the scrap yard for that reason.

why not just put what should go in there, a KZ 3.0 liter 4 cyl. toyota diesel, or a newer KD 3.0 liter diesel.
At least there's a better chance that it will mate up to your tranny. And if you are thinking of putting a 4 cyl. mercedes,like the OM615,616,etc. they have less power then the toyota 4cyl's I mentioned.
Most people doing any mercedes swaps are using the 5 cyl. OM617 3.0 liter because they can be found anywhere cheap, and have similar power ratings to the 1KZ-t

some people dont like toyotas but i live in the hills and old toys are the only truch that holds up to the bad roads, i just talket to a guy that will make adaptor and redrill flywheel to mate the 4 cylinder mercedes motor to the toy trany, i think cool, i was told that these combos get 30 mpg and have great torque

I don't know what 4 cyl mercedes you are referring to, but if you already have it you might as well use it. I assume its the OM616.
The OM616.916 was a 2.4 L (2404 cc) engine with power output of 65 hp (48 kW). In August 1978 the precombustion chamber was updated for more swirl and more efficient combustion. The engine capacity was lowered to (2399 cc) to satisfy engine displacement tax laws in europe, but power output rose to 72 hp (54 kW).

The OM647 is a 2.7 liter, five-cylinder "C"ommon Rail "D"iesel "I"njection (CDI), inline, and overhead valve diesel engine. This engine utilizes a cast iron cylinder block and an aluminum cylinder head. The engine is turbocharged and intercooled. This engine also has four valves per cylinder and dual overhead camshafts.
A very distinguishable aspect of the OM647 from the very similar OM612 predecessor is its intake manifold.
That would be a great engine for many swaps, except for what he wants, I think they would be costly, and then there is all the wiring. I would like the OM642 because they have a Aluminum block and only weigh 460 lbs, and come with a 7 speed tranny.
Anyway I have already been considering a Toyota swap. Either a 4 runner,or a Tacoma, and even a Rav 4. But if and when I do, I will put toyota diesels in them. Todd with Dieseltoyz in San Antonio Texas does toyota swaps for a living.
