You could always go the custom tube frame route.

 

Yah that would be nice, but I don't think my pockets are that deep!

 

I would guess that it will hold up as long as you don't do any heaving towing as you said you wouldn't. the weakest point is almost always the middle of the chassis where the full box ends and its just a C channel. My suggestion would be to maybe limit the torque at low engine speeds but still have the top end if possible. Just to keep the frame from twisting to much.

 

I think I'm going to shy away from this one for now. Kind of looking for an old dodge crewcab. I think the Cummins would be better suited in something like that.

 

Figured it wasn't worth the risk. Bought this 81 instead!

 

Looks like a solid truck, should be a cool rig when you get it done!
