My cummins was a 3.9 4BTAA. That means that it is a B series, turbo, and air to air aftercooled.

Air to air aftercooler out of a 94 to 02 dodge 2500 or 3500.

Radiator out of a 94 to 02 dodge 2500 or 3500.

I got a 4 speed automatic (a518 trans) out of a 1991 dodge 3500 2wd drive because my truck is two will dtive. Any trans that bolt to the 5.9 from 89 to 02 will be able to bolt to the 3.9 they have the same bolt pattern.

Need adapter plate same year as trans so that bolt to engine so that trans can bolt to engine

I used muffler pipe to plumb the after cooler with hoses from www.turbohoses.com.

Used muffler pipe and and flexable hoses for radiator too.

Used powersteering for the 94 truck and made bracket for it to bolt to engine.

Got a vacuum pump off of Chevy 6.5 but, a ford vacuum pump will work too. Didn't use vaccum and powersteering pump off a 5.9 because there wasn't enough room with the motor mounts.

For motor mounts I use the mount from the 5.2 gasser that was in the truck and amde an adapter plate to make it bolt onto the engine.

Used AC that was on the gasser too.

Pulled down gas tank cut wires to fuel pump (3.9 has lift pump), and let air out before putting it back up.

Lots of work down to the electrical system.

Pressure switch to get overdrive to work. (50psi ?)

If I missed anything tell me.

The power is good. Granted that it has been raining were I live in South Jersey, but as I was getting on the highway I had to punch it and the truck started to get sideways on me.

At 50mph I am at 1500rpm (30" tires, 3.5 rear)
70mph 1800rpm
25 mph basicly ilde.
1994 dodge 1500 2x4
Used the stock turbo for the 3.9 4BTAA which is a Holset HX30W.

I used 3" back straight pipe for the exhaust, and expanded it to 5" for stacks.

If you type in cummins 3.9 on ebay you can get an engine that needs to be rebuilt for a little more than a $1000+ shipping. They have them in Fedex trucks, bread vans etc. and you can aslo get them with a chevy of ford trans bolted to the engine, usually $2000 to $4000. A fully rebuilt engine will probably go for about $6000.

I got one of the engines that needed to be rebuilt. I dealt directly with a cummins dealer. I got all new rods, crank, bearings, rings, rebuilt turbo, didn't need crank or rods but I felt better with new ones. I put about $2500 into rebuilding the engine.

Any more questions just ask.

Are you running the p7100 pump or the ve pump? I'm pretty fond of the p7100 on my 5.9 but the guys over on 4btswaps seem to have the ve figured out.
