you might want to think about upgrading to a rd28 a newer version of the ld 28 this is a euro engine but many are around I put one in a Cherokee I still have the template for mounting the rd28 to a Cherokee transmission if you are interested they are a fantastic engine overhead cam diesel with lots of power and they rev a lot higher too

 

I believe the pattern is the same as the LD. If you would share your pattern, would sure save me time on the automatic turbo swap. I plan on the RD series next time. They are in Europe and Asia. Much easier to obtain parts for. Also looking at other options..especially engines w/computer controls from asia. Need to keep weight light. Weight if Cherokee less than Datsun...drag coeficient of Maxima .41...Jeep is .51. Drug home Explorer 8.8 w/disc brakes and limited slip.
