Default Gas Guzzler

i just purchased a 95 dodge 2500 v10 which sucks gas like crazy. I would like to swap on a diesel.

I just found this site and wow there is tons of information here. Can anyone pass on any information on what engine, transmission, approximate cost of doing a swap. I love the truck but not happy with the fuel consumption.

Find yourself a wrtecked or rusted Cummins donor truck, hopefully without the intercooler wrecked and you'll have everthing you need cheaper than tryin to buy piece by piece. A 12 valve would be easier but 24 can be done

Is there any particular year I should look for. I have a automatic transmission in my truck.

Well pre 98.5 would be a 12 valve, The dash is different in newer trucks, not sure on that wich year they change or if there interchangeable, Somebody else will probably chime in

A coworker totaled his truck recently, it is a 1999 model. Would this be an option for needed parts/engine?

Sell the v10 and buy a diesel. Youll be money ahead. Its gonna cost at least 2500-3000 to do this swap plus your time.

$3K is on the very low side, the milage is why that v-10 was priced cheaper than others.Dodge pick-ups for some reason are WAY worse on milage than others (even brand new)making the cummins option a necessity.Selling the gasser and buying the one you want will be cheaper unless your a good mechanic with a well equiped shop, like many here have.
