To put a 6.2 in it you will need the diesel radiator, oil cooler lines, torque converter for a 6.2 if you run a auto, a relay to run the glow plugs. I would use a ford starter solenoid and make the glow plugs manual and then its pretty strait forward. Pull the 305 in and put the 6.2 in its place. The hot wire from the distributer goes to the top of the injection pump. The throttle cable will work on the diesel and all the sensors will hook up. If you are still looking for a 6.2 any year would be fine but if you can find a late 80's or early 90's one with serpentine belts on it I would use it. They made some improvements on the later ones. Or if you could find a 92 or 93 6.5 one with mechanical injection you could use it and then you get a turbo. Any trans. would be fine if you are wanting to go with a auto I would go with ether a turbo 400 or 700r4 it probably already has the 700 in it you just need to change the torque converter. This is a easy swap to do I have done a few of them over the years so if you have any questions ask and I will do my best to help. Good luck.

Thank you for everything.
Would a 6.2 diesel from a military hummer be any different? Would that be ok for a daily driver?

Is there any other diesel motors that would be a easy fit besides a 6.5?

A 6.2 or 6.5 swap would be the easiest but any mechanical diesel wouldn't be horrible but would require more stuff. One more thing you will need is a hydro boost to replace the vacuum brake booster you have now.

Would you recommend the 6.2 or 6.5?

It depends. The 6.2 gets better fuel mileage and the 6.5 has more power. Which one you go with doesn't mater to much. I would stay away from the newer 6.5's 506 casting number. A early 6.5 or late 6.2 would be good but any 6.2 would do. If it was mine I would look for a late 6.2 one with serpentine belt and put a 6.5 turbo on it.

Out of the 3 motors. 6.2 6.5 and the 4bt cummins. which has most power? I got a buddy with a 6.5 marine in a chevy k20 it seems pretty strong.
