Hey guys! I sold my 92 Dodge W250 today but there is a good side!! Now I have the money to swap a 4BT in my 84 Dodge so I will be keeping yall posted as I take on the task of swaping everything out! Ill keep yall updated with pics so stay tuned!! Heres what im starting with, 84 Dodge W150, reg. cab short bed step side, pretty much rebuilt the truck a couple years ago, body work paint and intirior. Pics soon

I put a 4bt in my half ton 4x4 Dodge as well and it was pretty straight forward. I did have to put one Ton 4x4 diesel springs on the front to keep it level, cut down a 6bt exhaust manafold rotate it up. Getrag 5 spd and Dana 300 T Case.

Ok got the engine! Its in a 78 GMC truck. My uncle is letin me get the engine for 500 BUCKS!!!! AND IT RUNS!!! I couldnt believe it when he told me how much he wanted for it cause all the ones I have seen have been anywhere from 1200 to 2500 bucks! So i thought that was pretty sweet! Ok heres the story behind the truck, my uncle bought the truck in the early 80s and it originally came with that peace of junk 5.7 diesel. Well needless to say the head gasket went. Well my dad went to work for CDC (consolidated diesel company) in 1983 when they opened the plant. Thats the Cummins plant that first produced the 4bt in 1984!! So when the 5.7 in the GMC died, my dad bought a new 105hp 4bt off the assembly line and installed it in the GMC! That truck has only god knows how many miles on it, its been used as a daily driver and a farm truck!! But its time for the cummins to have a new home!!!

Great project! It's nice when you can put a project together on the cheap! What trans did you get, are you going to intercool?

 

Heres the tranny its an A518 overdrive. I have a rebuild kit, converter, shift kit, and an HE341 turbo (off of an 03 dodge) on the way from Diesel Nut Motorsports (great guys to deal with) I hope that stuff will be here this week!!! Then I will let you guys in on the teardown and rebuild!! The truck in the pics is the doner truck for the trans and the intercooler. I have got the engine cleaned up since the pics and I now have a low mount turbo manifold! I CANT WAIT TO GET IT IN THE TRUCK!!!
