V10 to Cummins conversion w/ Automatic trans.
My son and I are converting a 1994 3/4 ton, 4x4, automatic trans. that had a V10 gasser. We have a 1998 cummins that come from an automatic trans. with wiring harness and all sensors with auto adapter plate. We swapped the 1998 engine underhood wiring harness for a 1994 cummins harness. Swapped gas torque converter for an diesel and can not get the engine closer than 1" away fom the engine with everything mounted up. are the trans input splines the same? do we need to swap ecm (engine control module) will the under hood harness swap allow lock up torque converter to function? did the V10 have in fuel tank pump? will we need to remove and install diesel suction in tank? will the trans. have different shift points?

The trans are fairly close on v-10's, i think what you would have to do is put a controller for a diesel on there and use a different valvebody in the trans. The v-10's and diesel were the same bellhousing pattern and the v-10 truck is the easiet swap I would believe, I would guess that the converter is going into the pump drive is your gap problem.
