1991 quad cab chevy 1 ton 4x4
I've had this truck for a while and it is my favorite body style. 350 engine 4l80e trans 205 case. It's a ok setup but I want to mix my favorite truck with my favorite engine (cummins). I've seen lots of info on here I'm lookin for a motor now hopefully a wrecked truck so I can get the tranny too. Should I go with a 2 wheel and divorce the case or what case will go onto the back of the nv4500 to make the front driveline go to the other side I'm wanting to use the 94-98 12 valve nv4500 with whatever case will work. Also I have found a 4bt out of an old pump that was barely used. But I figured that might not have enough power to tow like it will be used for. If it will are the 4bts in the pumps the same as the ones they had in vehicles?

Nightmare? no. If you have a Dodge NV4500 get a Dodge NP241 case, or any dodge case with a drivers side drop, or you can get a chevy case and swap the input shafts, or you can run a divorced case or whatever kind you want. Easiest way is to find a 4wd Dodge donor and just swap everything if the price is right.
You can use a 4bt, it will still out pull your old 350 when you turn it up a little. I assume your last question was "Are the IP's the for the off-road/genset/pump applications the same as on-road 4bt IP's?" And the answer is yes, but they would likely have a different governor in them, the pumps could be easily swapped if it won't work, you would have to do some more research on them, I'm not up on my 4bt info...

Ya it's the old body style luckily I would like to use my 205 case and it sounds possible and ya I need to find out a little more about the 4bts because I can have this one out of this pump almost no hours it's a 97 model with an hx30 I was just wondering if the bellhousing was the same etc. It has a pto drive on it to power the pump. I guess I need to find out a little more on those injection pumps or find a donor truck.

Oops, sorry I forgot about the old body style, that would change things. If it is the older body style doesn't that make it a SFA with a pass side drop? You should be able to adapt your 205 case to it make it work. The 94-up dodges used a drivers side drop so please disregard my previous post.

from what ive seen you can get 6bt's cheaper than a 4bt at least where im at. running a dodge transmission still does not fix alot of the ifs problems like the transfer case not clearing the torsion bar crossmember or the oil pan clearing the front diff. but luckily you have a SFA and itll be easy. 89-93 dodges uses the passenger side np205 which is a very stout transfer case and will bolt right up. id use that one

I'm thinkin about going with the 4bt from a friend can't tell you the price. It's a 97 with an hx30 out of a pump barely even been started it's sat for awhile. It's rated at 116hp kind of low but I figure if I turn it up to about 200hp that should give me enough to modestly tow and I can get my kid grown up. I'm thinking about buying the conversion kit and hooking it to my 4l80e I've read a few places you can buy wiring setups that let you run the newer trannys. The shorter 4bt should be fine so I don't have to move the tranny back any. It's non intercooled what's a cheap easy one I can get. I think the only thing I'm going to have to build is a power steering bracket since it only has an alternator. What do I do about the fuel?? It's tbi with the dual 20 gallon tanks and in tank pumps?

if you do that swap, your going to be kicking yourself in the back of the head and not happy with it. those trucks are HEEEEAVY. i would never spend the money on a 4bt to put in one of those. it would be a slug. even the old 6bt dodges were even kinda slow. cant even imagine a 4bt in a 7000 lb truck.
if your gonna do it, do it once so you dont want to do it again. i picked up my donor truck complete for 1500 with the radiator intercooler engine trans etc. id go that route
