But until then im going to start getting ready. I have rattle canned the frame, and im starting on a new interior. Hopefully i will get the 460 out of it soon. I will be asking tons of questions guys since im 16 hope ya'll are ready. Any input would be great, i can use all the advice i can get. Ill put up some pics after school tomorrow:tu:.

Aw come on guys, it's not rocket science. It does take a fair amount of time, a good chunk of cash, but it's not really that hard to do if you take your time and think out your next moves.

Be patient when you're looking for an engine and you can find some great deals. I think it's better to get a wrecked truck, I found my donor truck for $3000. Not including time, I have about $4,500 total into my conversion after selling some of the extra parts. I still have about $2,000 worth of parts to get rid of, maybe more. There you go, once I get rid of some more parts I'm potentially looking at a 2000-2500 total cost conversion, including a common rail motor, NV4500, dodge radiator, intercooler, and a south bend clutch.

It can be done. It's not that hard, just take your time. My project took two years total with about one month worth of work on it. Looks factory, very few custom parts, uses either Dodge or Ford components even has the Dodge airbox and hydroboost.

i believe ford conversion is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay easier than a chevy conversion is. i am looking into doing one now and think it will be much easier, t he fact that its already straight axled makes the project ten times easier and the engine bay has much more room. i think it is much easier done in the fords. the hardest part is going to be the wiring if your not good at it

Here is a site that sells a book and ever thing else you will need to do swap a cummins in to a Ford. I wish i could get so lucky for my Chevy i can find the motor mounts but no wiring or even a book on what to do. fordcummins.com - Increase Horsepower with Ford Cummins Diesel conversion kits

im doing the ford cummins conversion in my 91 f350 crew cab and hell its easyer to do than rebuild the cummins itself

Exactly, this body style of Ford has been done so many times there really aren't any unknown's about the swap. The wiring is really simple, again if you take your time and think things through it's nothing to be scared of.

the more i look into it it seems like its just 100 times easier on the fords. every single problem ive ever had with my swap, is nonexistant on the fords. sounds like i picked the wrong truck for my first project

Thanks for the post's guy. Im just going to take it one step at a time. I am going to get the mounts from fordcumins.com. And then ill just set the motor in for awhile and save some money to buy a wiring harness. Painless makes one dont they guys?. Thanks again for the replys:tu:
