get the nv4500 5 speed that bolts up to the cummins or the 47re. its cheaper and easier than the adapter plate and it will handle the power. unless your th400 is big time built it wont handle the power of a cummins. but if your going to do a SAS at the same time of the engine conversion, be ready for a project. i did the same thing at the same time and let me tell ya, it was a hell of a project

yeah your worried about the cheep on the tranny but your going to try a engine/SAS....somethings wrong there. I would not cheap anything if I were you in fact money had better be the last of your concerns once you start this LOL

x2

i bought a complete truck for my swap for 1500 bucks and thought i could do it all for about 3 grand. well multiply thaat by 4 and thats what my receipts add up to. not including the things i dont have receipts for. if money or time is an issue. i wouldnt even attempt to start it.

or maybe do your straight axle right now so its still driveable and then save up some more money for the swap. because doing them both at once is alot more to tackle

X4, Contrary to every person's beliefs who have not done swaps before, they are NOT cheap and NOT for the faint of heart. When you have the engine and trans sitting in your shop you think you have everything you need, think again, it is all the little pieces that add up BIG time, not including any modifications/upgrades you want to do to the engine or trans.
