Default ranger 6bt or 4bt

alright i got some questions
1. will the stock axles even support a 4bt let alone a 6bt?
2. and firewall trimming to get it to fit?
3. 6bt or 4bt? (opinions needed)
4. can still have the stock vacum brake booster?
5. what is the weight difference between a 4t and 6bt?

thats all for now i know there is more im just drawin blanks.
thanks in advanced, and if you have any other things that i should be askin go ahead and let me know.

i think the 6bt would be a bit of a stretch. i mean anything can be done but im almost out of room in my silverado engine bay i cant even imagine a mini truck. i think a 4bt would be sweet though. might still be a little heavy though

I have put a 5.0l in a ranger and they are pretty tight fit,I think a 4bt would be a nice fit ,there are only 2 ways to get a 6bt in that I can think of is to cut the firewall out or lengthen the frame and front fenders

yah the guy that put a 6bt in a s10 had to majorly renovate his firewall, plus your trans will then be so far back too........ go with a 4bt if you can find one, it sucks because the big 6 is so plentiful and cheap :s i say throw in a vw 1.9L turbo

well im going to have to upgrade the suspension and axle either way. so i was gonna put a dana 44 and have a 6inch liftso that way i know the axle would support it and clear the oil pan. but there was a guy on youtube with a 6bt cummins and the 12 valve is a amazing motor and woud ffer more than enough power without any modifications than a 4bt would

i have a 8 inch lift and my oil pan clears but 1/2" right now in a full size chevy. and good luck keep the knuckles on a dana 44 with the weight of a 6bt. a 4bt would be a great swap especially in a little ranger. you can easily make 200 horsepower and alot of torque on a 4bt with minimal mods. even that amount of power will move a ranger quite easily. you should see how tight my engine bay is on my full size silverado. i dont think you can grasp how big a 6bt is until you start trying to put it under your hood

You need a dana 60 front. Dana 70 or 14 bolt out back is required. You can fit the 6bt in it, if you're going to run an auto then you dont have to worry how far the tranny sits back.

Go with the 4bt. It is easy to turn them up and it will make more power than that small truck ever could need.

Bigger is always better. Put a 6BT up front to drive the rear wheels and then another in the bed to drive the front wheels.
