|
I work for a medical startup company so once some projects are finsihed, I get time off, but most of it is just getting off early and hammering away after work till about 8pm to not piss the neighbors off.

Well I threw another layer of fiberglass on the dash then decided to go at the bumper. Dug up the original bumper mounts and got to work. It's all bolt on, so I might make them if there's any interest.
Attachment 49347 Attachment 49348 Attachment 49349 Mounts in stock frame holes, just had to open them up to 3/8''. Attachment 49350 Attachment 49351 Attachment 49352 Attachment 49353 Attachment 49354 Attachment 49355 Attachment 49356 Attachment 49357 Attachment 49358 |

|
6 Attachment(s)
No, It's going to be a street truck, I dont want to add anymore crap that will make me want to add a winch, which turns into wanting to put it in 4wd.....just more crap I'll break lol
Got it painted today Attachment 49323 Attachment 49324 The Rustoleum hammered black comes out looking a lot like powdercoat. Attachment 49325 Another layer Attachment 49326 Its getting there Attachment 49327 Attachment 49328 Tonite I'm molding on the support ring that will be used to attach the gauge cluster cover to the dash. Hoping to have it ready for paint by the end of tomorrow, that means BONDO sanding all day tomorrow :dang: |
I don't think anyone can say it enough...AWESOME BUILD! :rocking:
I envy the time and energy you have to create such a wicked ride! |
i don't blame you. nice looking setup for sure. look forward to seeing it when she is finished.
|
Incredible amount of fabrication ......and you are a master ! Can't wait to see the finished product .......and hopefully your next project after this !

This was the mounting ring I was talking about, its half fiberglass and half jb weld.
Attachment 49314 Attachment 49315 Then a couple layers of Bondo and sanding Attachment 49316 Then many many many more sanding sessions and various fillers and I got the first coat of black on it. I''m using the Rustolem hammered again because it gives it the same texture the stock dash plastic has and it hides minor imperfections. Attachment 49317 Attachment 49318 Attachment 49319 |

Attachment 49281
Still has a gap on the right hand side, not happy with it, it sits a little more to the left when mounted in the dash than when I molded it out of the truck, but I will try moving the gauge mounting holes over to see if I can split the gap. Attachment 49282 Attachment 49283 Attachment 49284 Dodge fuse panel Attachment 49285 Need to make a kick plate cover but its still easy to get to any fuses Attachment 49286 Yeah so this is going to be hard to fit lol will be a bitch to fit once I get the twins on there too opps didn't mean to let that cat out of the bag yet Attachment 49287 Just on there for initial startup Attachment 49288 And now I'm stuck trying to figure out how to hot wire the truck's ignition and starter....any info or help is appreciated :tu: https://www.dieselbombers.com/diesel...tml#post495024 |

It is looking real good! You are bustin some ass working on that Ford!
I walk by mine every day and think I should have removed the whole front clip instead of messing with removing the front schoud and grill! keep up the great work :tu::tu: "Smokin and Rollin" right along I'm just going with a boring 12V P pump and a NV4500 :w2: |

my wiring took me 4 full days. mine is on a ve pump but it still has a factory computer so making all the preheaters work, wait to start lights, gauges etc took a while. i didnt just swap harnesses on mine its all custom wired |
wow this is amazing the fab work is nuts, that gauge cluster set up is beautiful :U:, looks like you must have put the new front on it it looks sharper than the old one :tu:

Column ignition switch
Attachment 49223 These were the prongs I used to get power Attachment 49224 Mounted back on the column Attachment 49225 New starter lack of ''relay'' for use with a momentary switch instead Attachment 49226 Drilled a hole thru it to make sure it doesnt move out of the connectors Attachment 49227 Attachment 49228 Attachment 49229 Sneaky sneaky and out of the way, no accidental touching or bumping of the starter :tu: Attachment 49230 Attachment 49231 |

Attachment 49220 Just about 39k miles off what the engine actually has Attachment 49221 Pink and black wire is the 12v constant coming in from the ignition harness. Big and small blue wires (well at least the big one) runs the gauges, small blue turns on the ignition according to the wiring diagrams. I just hooked the small blue wire up because I heard it engage a relay when given 12v in the under-hood fuse box. Attachment 49222 |
looks like your gettin there! wish mine was that easy to wire:argh:

Man, I am impressed with your skills. One Question, would this swap have been possible if the Ford was at stock ride height with stock springs and tires? Well maybe two questions.
What was the reason you moved the engine forward? Keep up the good work, I would love to hear this run.:tu: |

Keep up the good work, I would love to hear this run.:tu: Moved the engine forward because I wanted to be able to work on the engine and pull the head with no problem at all, plus with the tranny shifter tower, it is in a perfect position inside the cab. Should be running by this weekend. Just awaiting the removal of the Dodge Ram fuel tank out of a donor truck and I have to connect the boost tubes. |
Looks great!

starter in the ash tray, nice

---AutoMerged DoublePost--- Alt ground to engine block Attachment 49178 Made a battery cable since the Dodge cables are meant to be on either side of the engine Attachment 49179 All the battery cables and power wires for the puter, still need to connect the Airdog power but I'm waiting till there's a tank for it to suck fuel thru so I dont get any accidental running of the pump with no fluid in it while I work on the computer harness. Attachment 49180 Attachment 49181 Baaaarely got this to fit in the tight space and slip on, torch and never seize got this on the outputs. The Dodge hose was all the way on the outside of the frame, luckily one of the 7.3's hoses worked, just had to trim it down. Attachment 49182 Attachment 49183 Attachment 49184 Trimmed down the boost tube (pass. side) Attachment 49185 Attachment 49186 Attachment 49187 |

Purple/white and Red/orange are the high and low beams. So I wired these to be on at the same time since the lows originally sucked huge balls
Attachment 49119 Attachment 49120 Attachment 49121 God damn these are twice as bright as before since I wired the highs and lows on at the same time, thank god because I could never see anything. Attachment 49122 |
