Default Adapter Kit

Hello All,
I ordered and received the adapter kit from transmissionadapters.com. Here are a few pics of it. Everything is very high quality and professionally fabricated. I am still waiting for the 700r4 and transfer case, once they get here, it's plug and play!!!

So this is going in a cherokee, right? I couldn't tell from the pics. How will the t-case from a GM vehicle fit in a Chrysler driveline? Will you have custom shafts made, or are they pretty much the same?

The GM t-case isn't a problem, as long as it is a driver's side drop (front driveline on the driver's side). In most cases the drivelines will have to be modified though - at least the rear shaft. The front shaft is fixed at both ends with about a 6" slip joint in the middle, so in many cases the front one will still work. Pretty rare for a conversion like this to end up exactly positioned for the rear one to work though. It is fixed at the rear and attaches to the transfer case by a slip yoke that slides onto the output shaft of the t-case.

Once I get the trans/transfer case installed, I need to figure out the crossmember mount. Then I will figure out the driveshafts. The GM transfer case is driver's side drop, but the rear driveshaft has the slip yoke in the back of the T-case. Maybe I'll get lucky and a Blazer driveshaft will work. Won't knoow till I get the tans/T-case installed.

Hey John, I was able to use the cherokee trans crossmember just fine but with the GM mount. Just needs to be drilled out to fit. I ended up with my motor a little farther back than you have yours, so I needed to move the trans crossmember back. Yours might be ok. The kit you got looks sweet!!

Default 4X4

This is probably a stupid question but...... How does the four wheel drive engage on the S10 Blazer transfer case? I found a vacuum switch on the top of the transfer case, but from what i've read, all it does is engage a lock pin on the front diff. I am assuming the Jeep does not have this feature. I moved the mechanical linkage on the TC around, and it seems that four low, four high, and two wheel drive are selectable from the mechanical linkage, not the vacuum switch. Correct me if I am wrong. The original Jeep TC had two linkages, one for high, low and neutral, one vaccum controlled linkage for two and four wheel drive. This is my first four wheel drive, i'm still learning. Thanks in advance for your help........

Depends on which Jeep transfer case you have.

The NP229 had a H-N-L shift pattern on the transfer case and a vacuum switch that switches between 2WD and 4WD by engaging or disengaging the vacuum disconnect axle.

I believe the NP207 which was available in the early Cherokees and the early Blazers has the standard 2H-4H-N-4L shift pattern. That's what's going in my swap...

Thanks Cheaper, I'll have to check. I think it's the Np207. It's the factory TC behind the 700R4. If so, that's even better, no vacuum to play with. The linkage will be easy to modify.
Just to clarify..... Neutral on the TC should disengage from the trans output shaft, right? Just checking so I know which way the linkage works.
