5.9 in a 93 f250

5.9 in a 93 f250
I look through some of these post and dont see much about what I want to know. I have a 93 F250 with the 7.3 idi. What all would it take to put a 5.9 cummins in it? My truck is a 5sp so I am sure I can find a bellhouseing for it. I would like to do a comman rail but maybe a older one would be better. What do yall know about that swap? Thanks

You'll have to get a different adapter on the back of the Cummins, there is no removable bellhousing on the transmission your truck came with. They are available and run about $700. From there, it depends on how crazy you want to be, how much money you want to spend, and what you want to build vs buy. This a very common swap anymore and there really aren't any mysteries about it, but there is a lot to do, again just depending on how far you want to go.
I am on the last leg of my conversion, just been on hold until I get motivated again. I used the Dodge transmission on mine, and also the Dodge radiator, intercooler, and condenser. I made all of my own mounts and cut the middle out of the radiator support and re built it to work with the Dodge stuff. The goal was to keep as much of the conversion either a Dodge or Ford stock parts so if I blow a hose somewhere, I can get one easily.

I used a 98 12V and put it into a 92 F350 crew cab 2wd. I had to put a 3" body lift to get the dodge radiator under the hood. Used the Dodge 5 spd trans and transfer case from the donor truck. Used the motor mount from Auto World and added an adapter plate to drop the mount one bolt hole on the block. (About a 2 1/2" lift.) was able to move transmission crossmember below the frame and one bolthole forward to mount the Dodge trans mount. This brought me drive shaft right into line with the carrier bearing. Took a lot of time but well worth the work. Took the computer completetly out and added all gages that I would need other than speedometer. For that I use a GPS.
