yes that pump is vacuum pump and you need to conect that to your brake booster.i took original line that goes all the way to booster and removed plastic line and used rubber hose with vacuum t conector and put one way vacuum check valve and conected it all to booster.that way your booster has enough vacuum wether your idling or running engine at higher rpm's.the t fitting you will need to conect rest of your vacuum system on your engine as well as some of jeep stuff that runs off of vacuum.reason they have vacuum pump is that diesel does not create vacuum on intake like gassers do.you may have to remove that steel line and make bends on it later when you put motor in as it may not be pointed the way you need,i also had to remove bracket that secures it
i have manual brakes no a/c. i think the only vacume i need is for the tranny control and the fuel pump shut off? seems to be no rack control for a stop switch.if i can figure out how to make the trans shift without it it would be one less thing to worry with. how about the alt. do you think my local alt shop could make it a one wire? going to have to find out. did you know the tranny pump is on the tail . you can push start this auto! another thing off the subject trucklite has led head lights! my dj5d has all led stop tail and turn. so with the head lights, all i would have is the starter and the wiper motor! i may be able to put a small solar batt maintainer on it and not have a alt at all. it has manual steering. late last night i started messing with it (till about 6 am) and i think i figured out the bango fitting in the top of the fuel filter is the return line, and the fitting on the primmer pump is the fuel intake? seems to me i have three vacume switches on the throttle linkage i dont have a book for this thing and it sucks! shoot i dont even know the year of car it came from. if i can figure how to make the tranny work im not going to use vac at all and just choke stop this thing with a air stop and a cable. and now for the last thing. the drive shaft. the flange on the tail cone if the tranny is a rubber disk (something like a rag joint, or a love joy fitting) and im going to have to find or cut and weld a yoke to the spine part. this is beyond my skill level. i have a good drive line shop here and im sure they can do it. it was too dark for pics last night. ill take some in a min when i get going. thanks again for the reply. anything else you can think of will surly help and it sure is nice to find you here for the help. Nick
