3208 cat in chevy

i finally found the right thread to put this in.

i need to if it is possible to fit a 3208 cat into a 1968 chevrolet c50 currently with a 327v8. if it is, what would i have to buy to get it to run and work with my sm465 4 speed.

I have seen it done, but the front end had to be stretched almost a foot to fit the radiator and intercooler. I don't even want to think about what trans they used. It was in a mid 80's crewcab. There used to be a guy in Oklahoma City that did it. I think it was around $25,000 if you provided everything but the engine.

sounds like a lot of work. y do you want a cat they are talking about not compling with the new emisions and are saying the hell with the road engines only 10% of the marketing in the november 2008 diesel power mag

It's a 3208, not an ACERT C-15.... All the new emissions stuff has nothing to do with those old dinosaurs...IMO there are better engines to spend the time and money on for a swap..just my opinion though...:w2:

I've heard of a guy doing this with a 1 ton chevy way back. I bet it would sound like a beast though :choochoo:

No offence but those motors are kind of a turd, even the ones that have a turbo.

I dont know why anyone would want a f-ckn 3208 haha :booo:

I changed a 3208 in an old ford truck a few months ago, pretty big engine, hard to tell if it would fit or not, but the C50 has a pretty big engine compartment. You would have to change the transmission probably. (You know you want an Eaton anyhow:)) It won't be cheap I bet, and I bet the front suspension on the C50 would have long-term trouble with the weight. Might work out though, the 3208 would pull a lot better than that 327, and be more efficient.

i was going to help a budy throw a 3208 in his for 350 superduty awhile back but decided to put a 12v instead, a 3208 would be bad ass in my ford or dodge:rocking:
