Engine/transmission swap and ECM's
Could someone give me some info on what I would need to replace my v10 out of an Excursion and swap it with a Cummins 5.9 or 7.3 Powerstroke? I've got lot's of parts lists. But I have no idea about all this stuff talking to each other electronically with the ECM. Also transmission recommendations. I am looking for about 500hp. 4r100 you can build up, but I also want to cruise on the freeway at lower rpm's as now it's about 2500 rpms at 70mph.

IMO, use an appropriate donor truck.
For the 7.3PSD, start with a 99-02 superduty pickup.
For a 6BT... use a dodge 2ndgen 5spd truck. You can avoid engine/trans computers completely that way. The p-pump easily supports 500rwhp. You'll probably want to re-gear to 3.73 or 3.54 too.
It seems the Ford or Dodge auto trans needs a $5k build to handle 500hp.

I'm thinking custom adapter, aftermarket controller, and adapt or swap the tcase. Allison probably handles more power, stock, than the others. But at 500hp? I dunno... sounds like a costly venture overall.
