Did you find a motor or make any progress in the last couple weeks?

Still looking for a motor. Working on the truck to make it a descent driver. It was mothballed back in 2003 by my dad and started maybe twice since then to move it. I have now put about 30 miles on it. Doing brakes and maintenance that is required before the swap.

also time has been spent on another project for this truck. I am developing a couple different adapters for this motor and tied up alot of my spending money in material. Will be shipping out the prototype sbc adapter hopefully within a week.

I am reconsidering using a t5 since I am making the sbc adapter first. Will probably find an nv3500 from a 4.3l s10

Okay,update on the project.

the truck is driving fairly nicely. Driveshaft center bearing is essentially gone. But will be swapping to a single driveshaft in the swap so I am not worried.

I have been concentrating on making adapters. My prototype small block Chevy adapter is in transit.I am very confident that there will be no issues.
This is for all you s10 guys with 4.3l or other std small block bolt pattern. Uses the flywheel / flexplate for a single piece rear main seal motor. 153 or 168 tooth ring gear. Only requirement is the starter has to have the inline bolt pattern, not staggered.

the block adapter is 1" thick aluminum, strong and compact. The crank adapter is steel and will accept a auto flexplate or a manual flywheel with pilot bearing. Pictures to come!!

this weekend I am finishing up the small block ford adapter design. And with redveloc's permission I will be producing a jeep 4.0 adapter just like his.

others will come, I have lots of ideas and plans.

I want to post pictures but can't figure out how to link from my photobucket account using my phone.

Thanks
Ken

if anyone can help me out I can email pictures to them, I would greatly appreciate it

pm sent. One of the guys here had extra DI Kubota's, I can't find the post this morning. Need coffee. On paper, the T5 looks like a good match, interested in the SBF bell adapter!

Where does everyone get replacement exhaust gaskets? Also how would using copper gaskets work on the exhaust?

anyone have a spare manifold they would let me borrow?

Ok so we got the first adapter bolted up. Made a mistake and swapped a bolt hole for the dowel pin. Oops .

a couple little revisions and we are off. Running the next one this week.

Ok, thanks to Bioman a motor will be here Monday. Its an IDI which is okay by me for now. I will get to mock up everything and have a test engine in my possession. First thing first will be to make the mounts I will need for my run stand. Get it on there and started.
compression is low in one cylinder. Thinking it may need a head gasket.

it doesn't have an exhaust manifold and I was planning on making flanges anyways so no better time then now to start that.

I want to run compounds. Don't have to but since I am making a manifold I might as well do it right.
on eBay there is a t15 turbo. Do you guys think this is to small for the small turbo?

T15 GT15 200 HP A R 35 Turbo turbocharger w Wastegate Audi A2 Ford Focus Transit | eBay

then for the larger I will probably find the vw/audi turbo you are all talking about. Or I have a turbo off a 280zx. I need to get all the info off.

sorry getting excited

thanks

Ok, onto the next phase of this project. motor showed up at a little before midnight last night. went and grabbed it from the local truck stop.

Its a IDI, with carrier pan currently but an extra pan was included, Thanks Bioman.
had some nice things with it. dual remote oil filter head running standard 1/2 lines, i was looking at doing this anyways, i think i have room for everything on my fender wells and rad support.

But first I am going to get the mounted on my run stand, plumb in the cooling and fire it up. make sure it starts smoothly and then I will mount my chevy adapter/starter/ flywheel and test it.

Also making a new exhaust manifold will exit down and center and have the k03 exhaust flange. Will hopefully route the downpipe at a 45* between the oil pan and steering shaft. going to try to run 2.5 inch exhaust.

couple picture of my first chevy adapter just resting on the block with the crank adapter
