Looks like your buddy has a well equiped shop and some cool cars as well! We will be very interested in your build, and how well this motor fits in the Mazda.

Nice!

JesterGrin_1 11-16-2013 07:03 PM

Well Today I had a painful reminder. And that is Easy Off Oven Cleaner burns. I just hate it when the wind changes direction. So now my face is red. :w2: I also was reminded that I am not as young as I used to be as for some reason the Ford Ranger 8.8 differential was allot heavier than I remember:nope: So next time I have to pick it up and move it around I will get help.

But at any rate I still have some more clean up work to do and replace the pinion seal and rear cover plate seal. Then throw some paint on it.

I have not pulled the cover off as of yet so I do not know if it is a locker or not but it does have 3.27 Gears. FTE feels I should leave them in and try it out for a bit before making up my mind to change them. But I do have available a set of 2.73 gears and 3.08 just in case.

I will keep updating even if it is boring. :tttt:

I'm running a 3.08 gear with 235/75/15 tires, they are about 30" tall. For my area, which I understand the interstate speeds are faster compared to y'alls, it's a great set up. I can run interstate speeds with ease. I agree with FTE, keep the 3.27, it should be perfect. :pca1:

lol. I am in South TEXAS so interstate speed limits are usually 70-85 MPH lol. Glad to hear that our speed limits are in the lower range. :c:

But The 91 Mazda B-2200 Ext Cab in its stock factory form prefers between 65-70 MPH for best millage. So unless I am in fear of getting run over I try and keep it in that speed area. But if I am lucky and the Kubota will give me good millage in the 70-75 MPH Range that would be fantastic.

Again though just in case I do have available a 2.73 and 3.08 gear set if need be. You can pick those gear sets up cheap for the 8.8.

Right now I am more of a process of getting the Big Parts and small parts and cleaning things up as I go. As I use my truck every day. As I do not wish for the truck to be down long when I start on the conversion.

usedkubotaman 11-17-2013 06:21 AM

Yea your speed limits are not in the lower range for sure, I though you were on the west coast. Try the 3.27 first and then change if your not happy.:pca1:

Well my Location does say San Antonio,TEXAS or maybe I should change that to the Home of the Alamo? :tu:

Well today I cleaned up the rear diff a bit more and threw a coat of paint on it. It is not spotless but it is going in a Truck lol. Plus I am not really worried about it as I am sure I will have to do some grinding and welding on it to put the Ford Ranger 8.8 Into my 91 Mazda B-2200.

Again this is a Truck so it is Dirty lol. What I am starting with. :c:

Well it seems as though a few people here that know what they are doing are using the GlowShift 3 in 1 Diesel Combo Gauge. So I put in an order for one.

I will soon be asking where the best places are to put the senders. Again Thanks Gang for all of the Great information and help. :tu:

EGT probe needs to be in the exhaust manifold just below the turbo flange, the boost signal somewhere on the intake manifold, alot of us are using the port that the crankcase breather hose went to(that has to be changed when you turbo it), and some are using the temp for charge air temp.

dieselxj 11-18-2013 12:01 PM

FTE the guy at glowshift specifically said the temp probe was for fluids, when I asked him about using the 3 in one temp probe for exactly that charge air temp. I was thinking I might have to put the probe in a little oil bath fitting and then stick it in the air intake.
You guys are successful running them as delivered for air temp???

I ordered a 3 in 1 like the above it should be here way before my jeep is ready.
just curious Jester what did you spend on your gauge. I got mine for $159.
