Default Tach Not Working And Rough Idle

This is my 1st post dont everybody beat me up at once (LOL)...Anyway 02 Dodge 3500 5.9 TD pretty much stock other then exhaust 118K .I was driving along at about 35 MPH Engine dies as if ignition was turned off ,coast to the side of the road and restart ,fires right up but idle is surging ,CK Engine light is on and Tach is not working .
Put my scanner on and get P0341 cam sensor and P0215 Inj pump controll circut .if i replace the cam sensor will this correct the tach problem ? I am a diesel tech by trade but dont know much about the little ones . this is my 5th dodge diesel and have never had trouble like this before any help would be Great,Thanks Allan

You don't have to worry about that here Allan. You will find that we aren't like other sites and most evryone is very helpful. Some of our resident Cummins boys will be glad to help with your problem. BTW- fill out you sig so everyone knows what you're driving and what bombs you've done. Also, don't forget to post a thread in the DB initiation thread and introduce yourself.

the rough idle and tach is definitely the cam sensor. It's not that bad of deal, just a booger. It's down below the Injector pump
