Default ctd oil leak

hey guys i got an 01 ctd thats leakin from the cam follower gasket. has anyone ever done one of these? i looked online and everyone is sayin the injector pump has to come out, but it looks like i may be able to sneak the bolts out without taking the pump off. the local truck shop says its gotta come out, but they quoted me roughly 7 hrs to do the job, including taking the pump off, re-timing it, and all the other stuff that goes with doing that job. does that seem about right for time? the gasket is only like 20 bucks but i would like to do it myself and save 700 bucks, but then again i dont want a huge headache too. any sugggestions?? thanks

Well the pump needs to come off but there is no timing involved. Book hour on the job is 4.8 hours plus parts and supplies.

If you feel comfortable pulling the pump and have a gear puller im sure you would be fine

They have a timing mark on the timing housing and on the pump flange. Make sure to check the alignment before you pull it apart and put it back the same and you will be OK.
