On the 24V there is a sensor under the primary battery that is supposed to prevent the battery from over charging. I would assume that the older trucks also have this. I don't know details about how it works but if the Alternator checks out there isn't much else to check for overchaging problems.

why do you think its overcharging.. is it because the gauge reads a bit over 14 volts? mine has always done that! did you have it tested on the truck? im not sure but i think the ecm controlls the vlotage/charging!
did it overcharge so much it nuked you batteries?

Well I took the alt to the rebuilders this morning and 2 diodes on the positive side were gone and one on the negative side gone, brush was worn out.total rebuild was 90.00 a little cheaper than buying a rebuilt but it has the same warranty and if I have a problem I just take the truck to him a he'll fix it.

I forgot to add that when I put it all back togather and turned the key the hole electrical system shut down for a second the came back on but it seems to be working fine I guess I'll find out in the morning when I got to tow a trailer.btw the regulator for the alt is in the computer only 500.00 at the dealer.
