Default Electrical mystery

I have some sort of electrical problem. I was trying to connect an Edge comp box to my 1998 Ram and when I was trying to connect the data plug shorted something out. The truck was running and it killed the motor and now it does not start. Now I have no power to my VP,intake heater or fuel level gauge. I checked every fuse or relay I could find in the truck and under the hood. The only thing I can think of that they all have in common is the ECM. Is there a way of checking it? I know the dealer can check it but they need the whole truck there and it does not start. I would really appreciate any advice!

Tried to check for codes today and the OBD11 will not connect. Tried 2 different scanners one was a nice snap-on. I also figured out I was instructed to hook the data connection to the wrong wires. I was supposed to hook it to the green and yellow but hooked it up to the black and red. Does anyone know where the black and red wire next to the data connection plug go? Those are the wires that shorted out!

Asd relay and circuit can cause a similar failure but if you are saying you shorted your data link plug in the engine bay you'll need an experienced diagnostician.

Ps, just replacing the ecm will not solve your problems if you've shorted your data link (can-bus)

I shorted the 2 wires next to the data link. I was told to connect to the red and black wires instead of the yellow and green. I don't know what the red and black wire that was shorted go to. The plug was removed by a previous owner so I asked someone before hooking it up. I think I will probably end up taking it to the dealership.
