Default 01 Cummins Smoking and Knocking

Have an 01 Cummins that has been having power and dead pedal issues. Put a new Lift pump on it, because the stock one wasn't doing anything, then last week it lost all power and started smoking ... BAD I'm talking fogging out a 4 lane highway just trying to maintain speed.
got it home and read the codes, 216 and 230. Installed new VP44, dead pedal gone and power has returned, but it is still smoking and now sounds like it is missing on at least one cylinder, and the engine is bouncing all over the place under the hood.

Wondering if a bad injector can cause all this?

I know a bad lift pump will cause the VP44 to fail, but will it also cause damage to injectors?

Any Ideas or Advice welcome

thanks

Hooligan

OK Just went and started it again and now see that there is also smoke coming from the overflow on the front of the timing cover

erik how long did you run it with it smoking like that? allmost sounds like an injector tip cracked on ya, and possibly damaged a piston

.....or it dropped a valve

Maybe 10 miles to get back home after smoking started Parked it till I got your Pump.
then after putting the new VP on it today I went probably 2 miles to see if it would clear up when it got warm, That's when I heard the knocking.

That's what I was thinking as well. Don't suppose you have an extra set of injectors laying around? (I have a VP44 I could send ya )

#4 injector was the culprit, Pulled it out and it was all funked up.
Got the 150s in this morning and everything is great.
Knock and white smoke are gone, Tons of power and thick black smoke only when it should.

Thanks Dustin for the pump and the Injectors
