Cranks but wont start
I have been working on installing gauges in my 06 Ram 3500. I am slow at it, but that is another story. Anyway, the problem: Hooked up power to gauges, ran tubing through firewall and tied up out of the way. Now my truck wont start. It cranks and the check engine light is flashing. I don't have access to a scan tool tonight and need to try to be somewhere at 7 in the morning.. any ideas??
thanks.

I have checked all fuses- they are good. I disconnected the batteries (+ & -) for a few minutes and then it started. Then died and the engine light is flashing again. I noticed a clicking sound, maybe the injection pump?? Any ideas??
thanks.

Update-- STILL NOT WORKING!! I got a scan tool (Actron CP9580) and hooked it up... It said LINK FAILURE... check connections... several times... tried tool on wifes Tahoe- worked fine. Called tech support, they told me my truck isn't OBDII compliant, but had the same tool hooked up last week and it read a code (didn't hook up my map sensor when I changed my oil and it showed up) No one can tell me anything.. What would be a sign my PCM is going out or already is??

any vehicle 1996 and newer is OBDII compliant, its national law! so tech support just didnt want to deal with you, sounds like you may have an ECM problem but it may be as simple as a loose connection somewhere.

My 2008 Ram 6.7 did the same thing a couple weeks ago. Sittin at the gas pump. Filled up and went to start. Ran for a few seconds and died. Took me 15 minutes to get it started. The check engine flashed too. Then it started with no problem and haven't seen the light since. ?????????

I broke down and took it to the Dodge place today...... seems my vin has been lost off the ECM, their scanner wouldn't read it either. Now waiting on verdict from the "professionals" (if that is what they are...)

Got a call this morning from the tech. ECM is bad . Is my only option to go with new from dealer or are there others available????
