02 cummins won't start
I've got 4 or 5, I only use one, I'll see if I can verify the others work.
Yes, They'll run on just power and ground, and IIRC a jump wire can be used for the Idle settings.
It works on any bosch VP-44 pump regardless of the vehicle, We've tested motor homes, equipment. And in all honesty, It might work on the other VP pumps but I think the harness would need to be changed.

so when it says that it works on 01-02 only it will acutally work on 98.5-02? plus the heavy equipment that i work on with the vp44? of course if the wiring is the same i should say. if so this would make an awesome tool for me as cat loaders have a perkins diesel with a vp44 pump on it that im sure i will be having to diagnose here sometime sooner or latter
It's really nice because it allows you to run the engine with a remote start switch a battery , fuel pressure and this tool. you can eliminate the pump while troubleshooting in less than 5 minutes. Say you've got a throttle problem like dead pedal that's occurring all the time, you can verify the pump will throttle without using the vehicle or equipment electronics such as a tps. It also allows you to kill it without running around to flip the key
It seems like I need a new vp44. I was already 80% sure of that, now I am 99%. I tried to locate one of those stand alone testers and the cheapest one I could find was $600. I followed the diagnostic proceedure on the Blue Chip Diesel site, and it seems as though this is the case. Thanks for all of our help.
PS mysterync, if you have an abundance of those testers, but only use one, would you be willing to part with one for a reasonable fee?

There are bunch How to's everywhere about how to replace one...
Sometimes direct questions are easier...It's really pretty easy...
dont forget you need 27mm 1/2" shallow nut
a gear puller...I had to shorten the center bolt to clear the fan shroud.
don't drop your alignment key in the case!
if you got any questions feel free to PM!
