Default 2002 dodge 2500 won't start

Hi all

I hope You guys can help out with this, I have a 2002 dodge with 6 speed ho 24valve engine. A little while ago it just died, luckily about a block from my house, but won't start back up. It had been running fine, even slightly smoother than usual. No check engine light. I replaced the lift pump and fuel filter, blew out the lines, bled the system, but it still won't start. I tried pulling the codes with my pc scan tool, it said no stored fault codes but then also indicated "not obd compliant" so I don't know how accurate my results are. Here is the strange thing, I read up on the VP44, so I figured I would check fuel to the engine. I cracked the injector feed tubes at the block and most of them are getting fuel, the only ones that aren't are #2 and #6, but that was because I couldn't reach either easily. Still no worky worky. Any ideas?

Sounds to me (and i'm just guessing here) like your pc scan tool isn't compatible with your truck. Try using an OBD II hand held and see if you can pull the codes with it.

Be aware that just because you get fuel at the injectors does NOT mean your VP44 is working as you can NOT put this pump in a hydraulic lock. However, as long as your VP44 has fuel, voltage and a ground (and provided it isn't locked up) your truck should at least start up and idle.

You can check to see if the IP is getting voltage and a ground by checking the wires on the harness.

The two wires you want to check are the the two closest wires to the engine, the one on top (should be a brown wire with a black stripe) is your ground and the one on bottom (should be a red wire with a green stripe) is your positive.

Unplug the harness with the ignition off and using a test light connected to positive battery terminal probe the ground (top 'brown') wire. If test lights illuminates brightly, go to next step. If it doesn't light up then you have an open ground that needs to be repaired.

Next, connect your test light to the negative battery terminal and with the ignition ON probe the IP voltage supply (bottom 'red/green') wire. If the test light illuminates go to next step. If it doesn't illuminate then you need to perform additional tests that i'll type out for you if needed.

Next with the ignition on and using a digital multimeter measure the voltage at IP voltage supply (bottom 'red/green') wire. You should have between 8v and 14.5v

If you have good voltage, a good ground and fuel then chances are your VP44 is locked up but we won't know for sure untill you get codes pulled
