my 12 valve was running just fine last night and then this morning i went out to go to work and it sounded terrible very loud knock coming from the engine but it goes away when you give it some peddle, and then comes right back when the rpms drop.. i was low on loi but i still had oil pressure. thrown bearing maybe? any ideas and ow hard it would be to fix as i am on a very tight budget right now

 

last 2 that i have heard knock were galded pistons...one was a stopped up piston oiler

 

how loud are loose valves? pulled the covers and they are loose but i dont know if that is the cause of the sound,

why would it get quiet and sound normal at around 1500rpm and up?

 

I know this sounds dumb but did you let it warm up? Mine had bad injectors in it and sounded like it was coming apart til it built up some heat. If it was running fine the night before I cant see something catastrophic showing up the next morning. Just trying to throw some ideas out there.

 

No I didn't let it get very warm.. but I just bought injectors about 4 months ago..I don't knowhow common ijectors go bad but its possible they are sdx 5x0.014

 

what was the temp outside? are u still runnin 15w-40? if so it might be gettin a little thick, might wanna switch to 10w 40 or even thinner stuff. our crusher at work knocked like hell the first time it got below 10 degrees here
