it is a 2003 with 145,000 miles and it has started surging and shutting off. It will not pull a load and seems like it is getting worse, this has been going on for about 3 months and the truck seems to be resticted....i have changed all of the filters and tried everything i can think of...it is not showing any codes and cant find anything ..please help.

First off welcome to the forum.
Second. Any smoke of any kind? Dose it still have the factory engine mounted lift pump?
What are you using to check for codes or are you just going by no check engine light?

Any smoke at start up? Could be a lift pump issue? Any staring issues like cranking alot before firing?

Default 2003 cummings

I used a snap-on diagnistic machine and it is not showing a check engine light or anything..it started blowing white smoke but i checked the oil and it is not low. it does seem to take longer to start. the odd thing is it is intermittent and will sometimes go for weeks without a problem.

this truck is factory, i have not changed anything just regular maint, a wter pump at 90,000 and a transmission at 125,000. other than that it is bone stock.

It blows white smoke on start up. And cranks for awhile. Time to start looking into replaceing the fuel injectors.

it is blowing white smoke at higher rpm not on start-up. it does seem to take longer to start and will sometimes start and shut right back off...then other days it will run as if nothing is wrong.

Sounds like injectors to me. These older CR cummins after about a 100,000 miles the injectors are quite prone to failing it seems like. So that would be my guess.
