EGT sensor cause EGR Cooler to go bad?

Default EGT sensor cause EGR Cooler to go bad?
I took my truck into the dealer to repair the High presure oil pump regulator and within a few days i notice white smoke coming out of the tail pipe and i was loosing coolent. I then found the EGT sensor wire laying on top of the motor. Would this result in EGR Cooler failure.
