I will try these suggestions tomorrow afternoon. Going to pick a C5 in the morning. What about connecting with the onboard modules? Would the immobilizer make it impossible to connect with the ecm? If I can't even communicate with the ecm with my nice OTC Genisys, will the stealer even be able too? Do they just connect through the OBDII connection?

Wish I woulda saw this sooner, Ive never delt with dodge security systems BUT on GM vehicles it has the same issues. When the security light was blinkin at you when you first start it up it was warning you something was up and now when it blinks the tumbler with the security chip reader in it is probably junk. On a GM you can get past this to make it run by turning the key to the run position and it will be blinking and it will take anywhere from 10-15 mins (hook a batt charger up if you can) But when it stops blinking you are able to start the truck. Like I said this works on GM's dunno about Dodges but its worth a shot. either way it sounds like the ignition is junk.

But what about not being able to connect with the ecm with my scan tool. I think this is a really important clue. If the ecm isn't getting power or ground, maybe the immobilizer isn't getting power or ground.

also with the key thing, if that was the case then the truck would start up and run for about 5 seconds and then die, if it is not even starting then that is probably not your problem, I would check into the tipm like I posted along time ago, I have seen this problem in the past, same problems you are having and that was the problem lose wire.

You have the factory grey keys? The used ecm was reprogramed by? Also if the truck is tried to be started too many times the ecm will default to lock up.

I have one key, it is Black and has the keyless entry built into it. The ecm was reprogrammed by auto computer exchange in FL. I am going to read up on the TIPM right now. Disconnected the batteries over night last night. Haven't tried to start it again today. Just got back in town.

Does the TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE have to be reflashed or is plug and play?

Doesn't look or smell bad, but that doesn't mean anything. Tomorrow I will put it back together and hit with the Volt Meter

Joey, You are definitly right with not being able to communicate with the ecm something is wrong, However I still think the immobilizer will have to be reprogrammed. The skim gets its power from a different circuit and if you have power inside the truck accessories and such I'd imagine the skim has power. The skim talks directly to the ecm in diesel applications, it sends a signal to energize the transfer pump. It might have locked itself up do to not communicating to the ecm, remember newer cars use can bus to talk. I would check for power and ground at the ecm first. These trucks are notorious for backing out pins and connectors. Also the ecm has a large power connection under the driver battery. If you need the wiring diagrams or want the manual pm or email me and I'll try and send it to you,it's a huge file

Does a new TIPM need to flashed or is it plug and play? I mean, as long as its out of a quad cab 4x4 cummins automatic with the same basic options, then it should be just plug and play right?
