I just bought a 1986 f-250 6.9L diesel recently and this morning I noticed a knock that just started only when I am driving accelerating and decelerating, but not at idle, any ideas on what this could be. I am a new diesel owner and dont know much about them.

 

welcome to db and to the knock how is your oil pressure
i had one do that just before a piston blew up

 

If you have a injector lay down they will knock to. The first thing I would do if it holds good oil pressure is get the injectors tested.

 

yeah my oil pressure is good I guess I will get the injectors tested thanks for your input
