Default hurt 91 f350

I a crew cab f350 truck which i acquired from someone one who only drove it for the past 5 years to go deer hunting. I drove this truck with only 120000 miles on it for two years with very few problems then my son playing in my truck ran my batteries down and me being in a hurry tried to pull start it since i have the 5 speed tranny in it. After dumping the clutch a few times i realized my rear tires where locked up and later after pulling the oil pan i realized i had bent a rod.I am considering just pulling and replacing the rod piston and rings and putting it back together but am scared, also am thinking about getting power stroke out of 94or5 truck i dont have alot of money and dont know what to do what kind of comments do you have for either route i miss my big truck

If none of the other rods or pistons are bent or broke you could probably just change the one. My big question is why it bent and my guess would be a head gasket or something.

To put a psd in it would probably be a lot of work.

Does the truck have a electric fuel pump on it?

if you used ether in this truck it may have bent the rod. ether locking one then trying to pull start it will bend things.

I know factory it had a manual pump on it. The reason I asked is if his kid left the key on and it has a electric one someone put on it could it slowly bled past a wore injector filling the cylinder with diesel causing the rod to bend?

The good thing is if thats the case it probably bent the first one up and stopped leaving the others unhurt. You would need to drain the diesel out of them though.

One more thing. I have a friend with a f350 that he is parting out. The 7.3 has some miles on it but runs great with a new fuel system on it. Don't know what he wants for it or how close you are to southern Indiana but if your interested I can ask. Just thought I would through that out there.
