Default Some help for a friends truck

my buddys got a 2008 3500 4x4 6.7l auto dodge and he has the smarty sr. and mbrp exhaust with full delete kit. the other day he was driving and got a p0700 code. he cleared it with the smarty, it came back right away, turned his smarty to stock cleared it and it came back. disconnected his batteries for 1/2 hour and it came back. he says it is shifting weird wont go into reverse and alot of other weird stuff. what could it be? the code we know is tranny related. he said he was running the smarty on level3 and i know he tows quite a bit so i was thinking his tranny might be fried, or torque convertor? any help appreciated.

I would ask the dealer if he could pay the extra money for better transmission parts.
