Default cummins swap to 98 chevy

I am swaping a 93 12v cummins in my 98 3500HD rollback I need to know how to wire it up?? Any help?? Thanks in advance.

Get the cummins alternator internally regulated by an alt shop, and see if they can add a tach pickup while they are in it.

You need ignition on running to the hold coil on the fuel shutoff solenoid and crank running to the starter solenoid and the pull coil on the fuel shutoff. Take the temp sensor out of the stock motor and get a brass fitting to fit it into the stock spot on the cummins.

Thats sounds like everything I need to know but I am confused I guess I am not familier with the cummins parts when I read your mesage it dosent seem to make sence. Can you please try to be alittle more descriptive. THANKS!!:

he said about the tach pickup in the alt cause i know my friend put a 12 valve in his 6.5 diesel chevy and thats what runs the tach in stock cluster he is a member on here i think his name is chevy cummins or somethin like that

The alternator part is all stuff you need to get done by an alternator shop. The dodge alternator needs an external regulator and has no tach signal. A good alternator shop can take the stock dodge alt, make it internally regulated, and add a tach signal wire.

The fuel shut off silonoid is all the controls the on off of the engine.

It has 3 wires, one is "hold" one is "pull" and one is ground. The hold wire is always on when the ignition on and holds the silonoid open. However it's not strong enough to pull it open, only hold it, so there's the pull coil which pulls it open when you roll the ignition to crank.

That part says 94-98 mine is a 93 does it have that?

it has it but its different, and just for fair warning, there is alot more wiring than that if you want to do a complete job and do it right. ran a chevy alternator it is already internally regulated with a tach pickup. if you want it done right you going to have to do your voltage gauge, speedometer, for oil pressure use the stock sender and make it fit same with water. if you want to make wait to start lights and check engine lights and intake preheaters and all that work its alot of wiring. nothing anyone can tell you online. get some good wiring diagrams, get a good DVOM and get to work
