Whits Cummins is down
My truck is stuck out on the ighway near my work
was driving along and it was just like shutting the key off, I have 15 psi fuel pressure so I think we are fine there, I scanned the coded via the 3 key trick and it displayed po500 which is no speed detected so I am thinking the cam sensor or crank sensor is gone............lately in the last couple weeks at idle the truck has done some rough idling and I was thinking I should get a new sensor but here I am now without transportation
any input ??????

Check the plug on the sensor. All the rootin around you have done over the years may have knocked it loose(best case scenerio) In that little peanut town you can't just go to the dealer and get one

P500 code is Vehicle Speed Sensor Malfunction and usually just means the tires have been overspinning like on ice. It will sometimes go away by itself after so many starts. I believe the speed sensor is on the rear diff. This code is not set by a cam sensor or anything else but that sensor on the rear diff. You might be able to pull the sensor off the diff and clean it (but Ive never personally had mine off).
I would try scanning it with a good scanner - you have one I assume??? Im thinking you might have a different code or something else wrong because the P-500 code will not cause the truck to run bad or quit.
Hate to say it - but sounds almost like the VP...you trying to catch up to Uncle Bubba for replacing VP's??

Sometimes the VP-44 has a hiccup. I once showed P0216 which is usually the injector pump death code. Cleared it and it went away - truck ran fine the whole time
