There is a black hose thats about 4 inches long. down by the lift pump/fuel heater. They have been known to crack. the hose arcs. check it. Truck hard starting? could be the supply and return. Them steal lines rust bad. Alot of guys replace with fuel grade rubber hose

Yup - most likey the 5/16" return line. Its a bit of a pain to change but not that bad. I had to pull the fuel filter out to get to it. You can see it here:
May as well go ahead and change out all your fuel lines if you have a warm shop to work in.

There's also a hard steel line that runs from the fuel filter assembly to the injection pump. The vibrations kill them and they crack fairly often. Its such a problem that Cummins actually put a braided section on the new replacement parts. Turn the truck on and look for the leak. Its usually not to hard to find.

Definitely, as much of a pain as it is the first time, its worth the peace of mind without a doubt. I replaced all mine with Weatherhead hose. Of course, I run a PPE Pump on my truck so I tore all the old stuff out when I put the new soft stuff in.
