NV4500 - NV5600 Questions!!
So I pretty much totally blew the nv4500 5spd in my truck ....
I really like driving the nv5600 6spd trucks better...
So here is what I found... A NV5600 6spd. with a bad 2nd gear syncro for $1130.00 shipped to my door. The truck it came out of has less than 90,000 miles on it.
Here are my questions..
Is it a good deal?
How much for a 2nd gear syncro?
Can I use my transfer transfer case with the 6spd?
And what all do I need extra to make it work?
I have a brand new south bend clutch & input shaft for my 5spd.. Is there any market to sell them used with very few miles on them..
I can buy a rebuilt nv4500 off ebay with a 1 year warranty & the upgraded 5th gear fix for $1275 Shipped..
What would you guys do? Need to make up my mind fast

NV4500 would be easier you have all the stuff for it already. If you go six speed you will need the 13 inch clutch/flywheel around 900 dollars for a medium range HP clutch. If you wanna sell the old NV4500 I would be interested.

Just put the 5th 5spd and 6th clutch in my moms 97 So if you have the coin since its already apart I would swap in the 6spd. Much tougher trans IMHO.

You my need the old NV4500 for a core (if you stay with the 4500) most times the price people give is for an exchange transmission.

They aren't so hard to come by. . . . . . .
When you say you have the new input from South Bend, I am assuming its the 1 3/8" input. If so that means you HAVE to have the 13" clutch therefore the 6 speed will take the same clutch. Just change the transmissions and I think the crossmember.
