i own a 99 diesel cummins 24 valve. i was driving it yesterday and it just died. pulled the truck home checked fuses and found a 40 fuse for the diesel heater blown, All i had was a 30 and it instantly blew that, will throw in a 40 when stores open tomorrow. if it blows what then?? Can anyone give me any suggestions.?? it seems like every month i am going through some seriously expensive breakdowns

 

Heater must be shorted out. Unplug it, and replace the fuse. If it blows again, there must be a short between the fuse and the connector.

The heater is located on the side of the filter canister.

 

yes the heater is shorting, you can unplug it and still drive it just fine with no problem, good luck

 

welcome to diesel bombers and what other problems are you having like why did you have to pull it home

I hope it doesn't do more than that, like fry my ECM.
