Default Shim for starter?

Is there suposed to be a shim for the starter with the 3850 dd from south bend? i have been told by one person i trust no and another person i trust yes so i dont know what to think. that is the only thing stoping me from a completed truck sooo if yes where do i get one if no rock on party time.

i guess it is needed on the 5 speeds but maybe not on the 6's

I suspect the hang up on gettin you an answer is the fact that this must be a new model of clutch and there's probably not much experiance with it yet. I know on my Con O I didn't use any shims for the install. Hope I wasn't supposed to, but it's been in there for some years now and all's good.

I'm almost positive on the Dual Disc/Nv4500 you have to shim the starter. On the six speed you dont have to do nothing. You dont have to shim any of the singles either.
