Default 24v motor swap issues

well we bought a used engine, 01 24 valve with full harness. we are putting it in a 99 truck. the "new" engine is a HO engine from a stick truck, and the 99 is an auto.

here is the problem. the 01 engine has no crank sensor, tone ring on crank, or wiring from ecm for it. the wiring on the 99 has been cut (not by me) so i need to use the 01 wiring.

my question is, will the 01 ecm work in the 99 or will the 99 ecm work?

i just want to make sure everything works right the first time. we have both engines out of the truck...

They used a VP44 on the 99, so there shouldn't be an issue there. Everything should be pretty much the same.

You are going to have to get one. One from the 99 should work.

I believe you will be ok with the 01 ecm. It should at least run, you will need to reflash the ecm with an auto program so the pcm will function correctly though. I don't know what would happen if you use the 99 ecm, but you won't hurt anything by trying it so it might be worth a shot. I can't say for sure if either way is going to work on the first try, you may have to work some bugs out.

I thought the map plug was different on each other.
