torque convertor lock up solenoid
is there any way to check the tc lock up solenoid,i have it out,can i hook 12volts up to itand test it?if so,which do i ground, cause i knoe when it lock ups it grounds one of the wires.please help this is my only vehichle.
so i can ground either one and it should lock up? doesn't one have to be hot,i know there's two wires that go to it and i need to know what goes to them, hot or ground or both,i don't exactly understand what makes it lock up.
Yes one has to have power and ground the other but it doesn't mater which is which for testing as long as the harness is disconnected from the main harness so it can't short out anything in the ECM.
ok,and if it works then what's the next thing to check?could whatever tells it to lock up be bad,and how do i test that, sorry to be a pain in the *** but i have to get this thing goin, and i've never messed with tranny electrical.
if it works then it might be the clutch in the converter slipping loosing fluid pressure or the ecm is bad the ecm sends a ground to that solinoid the wire for the ecm is black and orange it is located in the middle plug also check the fuse and relay
i checked the plug and relay and i've got the manual switch and that don't work either, and it's a brand new convertor,so i don't think the clutch is it maybe the seal.isn't there some kind of a pressure sensor that tells the solenoid to lock up?

it also had a code that was something like battery temp.sensor voltage......something loke that?

this solenoid has three wires.i'm thinking the two prongs on the outside are 12v since the two solenoiids are on the outsides and the middle is ground, does this sound right?

You may want to check the kick down cable to see if it is adjusted correctly. When the cable is adjusted to tight it won't let the trans go into over drive because it thinks you have the hammer down.

try unhooking the cable at the control lever at the inj pump and test drive it.
