Bad Vibration..
I have a 05 2500 Dodge diesel. I am getting a pretty bad vibration when towing something behind me. It starts vibrating between 55 to 60 mph. You really notice it bad when you are on a hill if the motor lugs down under 60 mph. When it does this i am losing no power and the engine seems fine. I am thinking something in the drive train somewhere. I can drive it without towing anything and it very seldom does it. When it starts doing it while towing you can accelerate really hard and it will stop shaking and runs fine. I noticed this evening from a dead stop when i take off i am getting something that sounds like a metal rubbing noise coming from the back of the truck. Or that is where it sounds like it is coming from. Any help will be greatly appreciated....

Could be a carrier bearing (If your truck has one) or a pinion bearing, Carrier, Driveshaft issues, Axle bearings or transmission issues. Fill us in on some of the details of your truck! Auto, Manual? Gearing ? What type of weight are you pulling? Does the vibration stop when you are coasting with a load?

i noticed a vibration on my 08 when i was towing and smarty on 7. it was my tq convertor. it dont do it if tq convertor is not locked. i just had to back off on it a little. i think i am going to upgrade into a suncoast

Tony, your right on. The thing that makes me wonder is if it's only under load and acceleration and only with a load it could be drivetrain related!
PS.... You know I've got your back on the suncoast stuff!

It very well could be a transmission issue, Probably a converter. Are higher transmission temps seen when this occurs, Or within 5 minutes of it occuring?
Is your truck a long or short bed? 4 door?
I guess what I'm getting at does it have a carrier bearing and whats it's condition! Drivetrain vibration should always start with items like your carrier bearing!
