Changed Oil Wont Crank
Changed the oil and oil filter this weekend. Filled er back up, tried to crank and all it would do is turn over...wouldn't fire off. The wait to start light would not come on. Tried maybe a dozen times and gave up. Was talking with neighbor and he said maybe it has some sort of a reset. turned key to on, pumped fuel pedal 5 time and held it down, turned key off while continuing to hold pedal for another 10 seconds and she crunk right up. Drove her sunday and then to work on monday with no problems. Tried to leave for lunch on monday and the same thing...wait to start light didnt come on and she would just turn over and not crank. did the same pedal pumping procedure and she fired right up. No problems yet today.
Is there a reset? or is it just coincidence that she has crunk up twice after doing this? What else could be causeing this. It has the new grey CPS.

any one got a clue?

well changing the oil shouldn't reset anything and shouldn't cause it not to start so there has to be some underlying problem that is going on

how much oil did you put in the truck when you changed the oil? the 7.3 takes 15 quarts IIRC and a good filter, i always used Ford Motorcraft FL-1995 filters. nothing more nothing less....
remember on PowerStrokes the injectors are fired off oil pressure. if the correct oil wasn't used or an incorrect amount of oil was used it can cause the injectors to not fire like they are suppose to.

14 qts of Rotella 15/40 and one quart of lucas oil treatment. Wix oil filter, filled up filter before re-installing. Batteries seem strong, turned over well just wouldn't fire.
My first thought was maybe I over tightned the filter or didnt get it tight enough. Haven't had any issues since last Monday...fingers crossed.
What would cause the Wait To Start light to not come on? I have been holding my breath everytime I go to crank her up...when I see the light come on I breath a sigh of relief.

where are you located and what are the current temperatures right now?
honestly i wouldn't put Lucas in the truck any more as it has the tendency to entrap air in the oil and makes it harder for the oil to pressurize and make the injectors work.

If the Lucas does indeed trap air in the oil I can understand it making it harder to start. Is there a sensor that would sense that and cause the Wait To Start light to not come on?
Don't know if all Lucas products trap oil but the one I used is the Synthetic Oil treatment...I know it doesn't mean a hill of beans but it had a picture of a Power Stroke on the back and recommended one quart per change.
