It should have an internal bypass that is set by a spring in it, so ya it should shut pressure down with your finger over it.

Does it fill that filter canister when you bump the starter. If it does it's fine, at idle at least.

I tried cracking one of the lines on the fuel injector... Loosened the forward most one.. No fuel comes out at all during cranking.

Yeah im sure it can because it can fill my pretty tall cup when i take the plug off the elbow on the VP with no restriction.

Then the LP passes the same flow test that Dodge would use to diagnose it if you took it to the shop. That's all they do is bump the starter and make sure it flows a certain amount of fuel before the LP shuts off.

Since your testing it at the IP this also means that your filter is not clogged.

The Dodge "volume test" doesnt mean a thing in my mind.

When you put a FP guage on you know exactly how much fuel pressure you have and know for sure what the health of the lift pump is.

CumminSport, Im crossing my fingers for you and hoping its not the VP-44. This should just reinforce to everyone that its not good enough to throw some kind of pump on the frame rail and call it good. You still need a FP guage.

Do you have a code reader ??

Agree with ya wholeheartedly Doc that's why I said it passed their test and didn't say that this means it's good. Way to many variables involved in this simple test that could change at any given time rollin down the road.

Well i think i figured it out...

So i cracked 3-4-5 inectors and cranked the hell out... It moved bubbly fuel then just fuel... So i tightened and tried to start.. after much hessitation it burbled to life then died after about 20 seconds... So i said screw it and put the cheapo gauge on the top of the housing for the filter. I went to bump to test LP pressure... No lp... So i went under truck and was like... WHAT THE F! I hit it with a wrench and it started to run?!! So i tried the bump prime again.. no LP! LP + Wrench = running LP.

So i take it that its on its way OUT the door! It runs and seizes intermittently! A little impact persuasion gets it running again!

I would still suggest doing the guage and scanning it.

If the LP is dead, I wouldnt venture too far, until you get it fixed, just my opinion.

The attack of the electric motor LP's strikes again. This is why a gauge that you can see at all times but it's also why I preach so hot n heavy about the MITUSA belt driven mechanical Lift Pump. No electric motors to go bad or wear brushes out on.

In my world usin an electric motor pump is no different then runnin a Prius motor in yer truck.
