Default help! lost power, loud knock, etc.

I was on my way from OKC to Wichita Falls, TX and all of sudden the check engine light came on, the engine constantly had that "diesel knock/rattle" and the power went to ****. It won't reach over 2K on the tach and it shifts hard.

Any ideas?

Luckily, I made it safely to my grandparents house in WF so the truck isn't stranded.

If there's anyone in town (Wichita Falls) that has a code reader and doesny have anything going on, give me a holler. 405-641-4947.

Thanks,

Dan

Dan, that is the infamous #2 and/or #7 inject or harness issue. You need to get a scratch awl and punch a hole through the harness connector to re crimp the connection.

Each injector has a wiring harness plugged into it with connector. On #2 and #7 the wires are pulled tight causing the crimps inside the connector to separate which in turn keeps the inject or from firing properly. You need to take an awl or an ice pick and punch it through the connector to recrimp the leads.

Alrighty guys. I think I got it fixed. It turned out to be the #7 harness. I started with #2 (since it was the easiest to reach) and it still acted up. Took the ice pick to #7 and BAM! Sounds good as new.

Thanks a million for all that chimed in. Now, wish me luck on the way back to OKC (I tend to get a little paranoid after doing stuff like this).

Ok, quick question regarding the same issue.

Anyone have an idea if it's normal for the same thing to happen just a few days after I recrimped both #2 and #7?

I was on my way to work this morning and it started shutting down on the highway.
