Default Entire Steering system, junk in 2 days..

First and foremost glad to be a part of the community, have been at another site for years, looking for some new blood...

Folks I really need some help...

My truck has had 3 new steering pumps this month!! On monday the steering pump, steering gear box, hydroboost, and master cylinder were all replaced, and the vaccum pump seals were replaced (where it connects to the ps pump). Today while driving the entire system grenaded again. The shop is being decent to me, but they are as frustrated as me. They are one of the top steering/suspension shops in the state, ISO 9001--all the stuff they are top notch. They have it all torn back apart and found a mess again. They recommend we pull all the new parts and do it over to get out any contamination. The system has been flushed many times over, b4 the new equipment. They recommend a magnefine inline filter this time and I purchased a 99 steering pump with a magnet and filter built in this time. Any help is much appreciated. I am at wits end, I simply cannot afford any more costly repairs and I am not getting any jobs done as this is my masonry truck. Time for a new Tundra or Duramax or something maybe...getting very old and ridiculous, not to mention scary when it fails. Please some help...

First off Welcome to DB.
If you would....define your version of "grenaded" Did the system lose pressure due to a blown seal? steering box blow into pieces? bearing go out in the pump? Did you find trash in the fluid?
I'm guessing all the other components in the front end are in good shape, and nothing is in a bind. With some more detailed information, I bet between the bunch of us here, we can figure out what caused your problem.

we found bearing pieces and 1/4" size metal pieces...i have a dss and an adjustable track bar, yes front end parts are fine, the steering box pulled off last week was the original, my truck has 243000 miles on it. could i get everybodys opinion on the warranty issue here also. this is not a dealership...they want to go 50/50 on labor, i provided the hydroboost unit, pump, and master--it is their box...the system failed in 36 hours, they said the labor issue would be the same regardless if the parts came from them. in 2006 i lost the ps pump, went two weeks and it needed another...that is the one that came off last week...i have thought about replacing all of the ps lines, but that seems to trial and error to me, and it is a long wait from dodge-not to mention spendy, havent checked aftermarket...thanx-sorry for the bad typing and grammar-my son is passed out in my left arm...

I'm wondering if the shop didn't plant the metal. It's funny the original system went 200k+.

what fluid are you using, B2tB ? I recomend valvlines atf + 4 it full synthetic I converted years ago and no trouble yet.

thats all I can offer-sorry about your loss- looks like you have surely have suffered with the 53 block and im guessing a VP or two.

Do make a new thread after its all said and done in the general forums so it will stay I am watching for sure

Definitly run a wire/coat hanger through the lines to check for blockages
